Steps to Build QuickBooks Antivirus Exclusions

The following methods are available to create AV exceptions for the QuickBooks program files in various antivirus software.

1. Creating QuickBooks Antivirus Exceptions in Bitdefender

Follow the instructions mentioned below to create AV exceptions in Bitdefender

  • Initially, open the Bitdefender app and hit the Protection tab from the navigation menu.

  • Then, open the Antivirus page.

  • Navigate to the Settings tab and choose the Manage Exceptions option.

  • Click the Add an Exception option.

  • Type the file path of a QB file in the table.

  • Make sure that the switch next to 'Antivirus' is enabled.

  • Finally, hit the Save button, and it will add a new rule to the list of AV exceptions.

2. Microsoft Windows Defender

You need to follow the steps mentioned below:

  • First, hit the Start menu and search for "Settings."

  • Then, select Update and Security. You have to press Windows Security and click the Virus & Threat Protection option.

  • Choose Manage settings from the left pane.

  • Select Exclusion and then click the Add or remove exclusions option.

  • Select Add an Exclusion and choose the option for making the exception file, file type, folder, and procedure.

  • After adding the file path, select the Ok option to save changes.

3. Creation of McAfee Exception for QB

  • First, open the McAfee app.

  • Navigate to the My Protection tab.

  • Next, you need to scroll down to Device.

  • Choose Real-time Scanning.

  • Hit on the Excluded file option, then choose the Add file option.

  • You have to browse and select the files you want to exclude from being scanned.

  • Repeat the same steps if there are multiple files.

4. Webroot Antivirus Program

Initially, run the Webroot antivirus software.

Select the Gear icon next to PC security.

Go to Block/Allow files and hit the Add file button.

Check the File column to see the file name.

Select the Radio button for Block, Allow, or Monitor. In the right column, choose Block as you exclude the QB files from being scanned.

Hit the Remove all option to erase the list.
